We had a blast while we were at Powell this summer! We had a fantastic beach, at first I didn't think so, but as the week went by, the water rose 4 ft!!! We were at the very end of Lake Canyon, just under the Indian ruins. As you can see from the photos above, everyone had a fabulous time. We love the Star Gazer!

Reminder-Are you going down for your week?
Remember to touch base with the person going down in front of you, let them know if you are coming down and when you plan to arrive; you can coordinate departures and what to leave running when you know. They also know to contact you if they find out something you should bring. Thanks for the teamwork.
Remember to email Barb Cooper any schedule changes also.

Ice Maker
There is some concern about the water usage of the Ice Maker. Although I have found it uses a fair amount of water, I was able to leave it running once I defrosted the grid and got it running on a consistant cycle. If you feel the ice maker is not making (enough) ice for the water it is using, turn it off, leave the door open and let it defrost the ice making plate and grid for several hours, then turn back on and close the door. It does cycle the fresh water pump while making ice. Please report your findings, I am trying to determine if there is a problem or not.

Launching the Star gazer
The Star Gazer has been launched and is at home in Hall's Marina! Brian R, Joe D, Mike C and myself(Barb) took off from Bullfrog marina on Thursday April 14. It took us only 3 hrs to get to Wahweap marina in our run-about (ave speed about 30mph), with one stop at Dangling Rope to refill for gas, at a mere $4.33/gal. Once we got to the Star Gazer at Wahweap, Mike P, Richard B, and Nick the mechanic met us. We spent the rest of Thursday and all day Friday doing finish up work on the Star Gazer. The previous owners didn't take the time to clear out any of their stuff, and they had a lot of stuff! Mike P was busy getting the Sirius radio working, with speakers on the top deck, along with lighting for the top, it looks GREAT! The bar is installed with a little fridge and sink-also looking great. I think this will be the hangout spot for us for sure! Misc. repairs etc were being done by all. Nick was giving everyone "engine" lessons. Richard B and I were coming up with arrival and departure instructions.
The ice-maker is broken and the refrigerator is stained with black (previous owners did not clean out before turning it off). It sounds like we will probably be getting new of both. But the best thing about this houseboat is the trash compactor!!! I did learn one thing for sure, just because you can compact does not mean you should. After everyone left on Sunday, I never replaced the bag in the compactor. I just kept squishing and compacting and squishing more all week till Friday when we were ready to leave. Ummmm...it was HEAVY!!! Really HEAVY!
We got on our way at 0700 Mtn time on Saturday to head up the lake. It was beautiful weather, sunny and calm water. Everyone had a chance to steer. More tasks and organizing were done. Especially under the front hull. The guys really did get it looking good. Joe was even under vacuuming the hull with the hatch closed. It took us 13 hours and less than 200 gallons of gas
to cruise the entire length of the lake.
The Star Gazer looks amazing and I think everyone will have a great time on it. I hope everyone will post photos of their families having fun in the sun at my favorite place on earth Lake Powell.
